The house draws deeply on the area’s artistic legacy and its history as a vibrant locale of makers and thinkers. Ultimately we wanted to evoke a contemporary interpretation of an artist’s studio—immersive, textural, and quietly theatrical—anchored in the spirit of St John’s Wood’s enduring creative identity. The hero piece being a signed print by Barbara Hepworth, Three Forms Assembling, a nod to her presence and contribution to the area.
The design merges domestic warmth with gallery-like functionality, subtle references to traditional studio living—layered textures, curated display moments, and adaptable hanging systems—allow the space to evolve as a living canvas. Architectural details such as concave ceilings, mirrored surfaces, and bespoke timber framing introduce depth while enhancing light and spatial perception. The result is a tactile, layered interior that balances heritage with modern craftsmanship.
