Ellis Street was about refining and deepening Caramel’s existing identity—holding onto its sense of charm and nostalgia while giving it a more grounded and considered framework. The intention was to create something that feels personal and inviting, where every detail contributes to a coherent, lived-in environment.
The space leans into a domestic sensibility. Warm, homely tones sit alongside more solid, textural materials—high gloss floorboards, solid timber furniture, and soft upholstery. There’s a balance of old and new throughout, with nostalgic detailing layered carefully against a more restrained backdrop.
Central vitrines and full height wardrobes reference antique cabinets and joinery, allowing moments of discovery, while simplified wrought steel rails give a simple, strong and modern method for clothing to be staged. The façade continues this language with hand-painted signage and a more tactile, layered window display approach that reflects the interior. The overall feeling is one of familiarity and warmth, quietly expressive.
